Deadly Russian missile attack on a popular Kramatorsk pizza joint.

On June 27, 2023, two Russian missiles struck a busy pizza restaurant in Kramatorsk, Ukraine, killing at least four people and injuring more than 40. The strike occurred at dinnertime, when the restaurant was crowded with people. Among the dead was a child.

The missiles hit the restaurant in the city center, which is a popular shopping and entertainment area. The blast caused extensive damage to the restaurant and surrounding buildings. Rescue workers were on the scene immediately, but they were hampered by the ongoing fighting in the area.

The Ukrainian government condemned the attack as a “war crime” and called for an immediate end to the violence. The United States and other Western countries also condemned the attack and called on Russia to be held accountable.

The attack on the pizza restaurant is the latest in a series of Russian missile strikes on civilian targets in Ukraine. In recent weeks, Russian forces have struck apartment buildings, schools, and hospitals, killing and wounding hundreds of civilians.

The United Nations estimates that more than 5,000 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the start of the war in February 2022. The true number of casualties is likely much higher.

The attack on the pizza restaurant is a reminder of the brutality of the war in Ukraine and the suffering of the civilian population. It is also a reminder that Russia is not targeting military targets, but rather is deliberately targeting civilians to terrorize the Ukrainian people.
