CBI Takes Over Manipur Viral Video Case, FIR Lodged

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into the Manipur viral video case, in which a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a group of men. The FIR was lodged on July 28, 2023, at the Imphal West police station.

The video, which was widely shared on social media, showed the woman being stripped and assaulted by a group of men. The incident is believed to have taken place in Churachandpur district, Manipur.

The CBI has registered a case under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is being led by a team of CBI officers from New Delhi.

The CBI has said that it will take all necessary steps to ensure that the victim gets justice. The agency has also appealed to the people of Manipur to cooperate with the investigation.

The case has sparked outrage in Manipur and across India. The Manipur government has suspended two police officers who were allegedly involved in the initial investigation.

The CBI taking over the case is a positive development. The agency has a strong track record of investigating sensitive cases, and it is hoped that they will be able to bring the perpetrators to justice.
