Heavy Rains Forces Fermenta Biotech to Suspend Operations at Kullu Plant

Fermenta Biotech, a leading manufacturer of vitamin D3 and enzymes, has suspended operations at its Kullu plant in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains. The company said in a regulatory filing that the operations at the plant have been completely stopped since July 10.

The rains have caused flooding and landslides in the Kullu region, disrupting road and rail traffic. The company said that it is working to assess the damage to the plant and resume operations as soon as possible.

Fermenta Biotech’s Kullu plant is one of its two manufacturing facilities in India. The other plant is located in Dahej, Gujarat. The company also has a wholly-owned subsidiary in the United States.

Fermenta Biotech is a global player in the vitamin D3 and enzymes market. The company’s products are used in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and cosmetics.

The suspension of operations at the Kullu plant is a setback for Fermenta Biotech. However, the company said that it is confident of resuming operations soon.
