Orange Alert in Mumbai; Heavy Rainfall Predicted in Gujarat, Maharashtra

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, predicting heavy rainfall in the next few days. The alert is in effect from today, July 18, to July 20.

The IMD has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over the Konkan, Goa, and Western Ghat areas of central Maharashtra during this period. There is also a possibility of isolated extremely heavy falls in the region on Wednesday and Thursday.

Mumbai is expected to receive heavy rainfall till Friday, with a generally cloudy sky. The IMD has predicted moderate rainfall on Friday and Saturday and light showers on Sunday and Monday.

Other parts of Maharashtra that are likely to be affected by the heavy rainfall include Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik, Pune, and Kolhapur.

The IMD has advised people to be cautious and take necessary precautions during the heavy rainfall. They have also advised fishermen to stay away from the sea during this period.

The heavy rainfall is likely to cause waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic disruptions. It is also likely to trigger landslides in hilly areas.

The IMD has asked the authorities to be prepared to deal with any situation arising out of the heavy rainfall. They have also asked them to monitor the water levels in dams and rivers and take necessary action to discharge excess water.

The heavy rainfall is likely to have a significant impact on the people of Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. It is likely to cause waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic disruptions, and power outages. It is also likely to trigger landslides in hilly areas.

The heavy rainfall is also likely to affect the normal life of people. Schools and colleges may be closed, and flights and trains may be cancelled or delayed.
