Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that India and France have agreed to use the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment mechanism in France. This means that Indian tourists in France will now be able to make payments in rupees.

The UPI is a real-time payment system that allows users to transfer money between bank accounts using their mobile phones. It is one of the most popular payment methods in India, and it is also becoming increasingly popular in other countries.

The agreement to use UPI in France is a major boost for tourism between the two countries. It will make it easier for Indian tourists to shop and eat in France, and it will also help to attract more French tourists to India.

The UPI payment mechanism will start being used at the Eiffel Tower in the coming days. It will then be rolled out to other tourist destinations in France.
