Bumrah to Lead India in T20I Series Against Ireland

Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will make a comeback as India’s captain for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. Bumrah, who last captained India in a T20I match in September 2022, was named captain of the squad on Monday.

Bumrah’s return as captain comes after he missed the recent T20I series against South Africa due to a back injury. The 29-year-old is currently fit and has been bowling in the nets.

The T20I series against Ireland will be Bumrah’s first assignment as captain since he was appointed to the role in December 2021. He will be assisted by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been named vice-captain.

The series against Ireland will be a good opportunity for Bumrah to lead India in the shortest format of the game. The team will be without several key players, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul. However, Bumrah will be able to call on the services of some of India’s promising young players, such as Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, and Suryakumar Yadav.

The T20I series against Ireland will be played in Malahide, Dublin, from August 18-22. The matches will be played under lights, which will be a challenge for the Indian bowlers. However, Bumrah will be confident of leading his team to victory.

Bumrah’s appointment as captain is a sign of the faith that the Indian selectors have in him. He is one of the most respected bowlers in the world and is a natural leader. Bumrah will be looking to lead India to victory in the T20I series against Ireland and build on his impressive record as captain.
