India’s Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy are one game away from winning their first Super 500 title after winning the second game of the Korea Open 2023 Final against Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi 21-13.

The match was closely contested in the first game, with both teams trading points. However, Shetty and Rankireddy managed to pull away in the second game and win it comfortably.

The third and deciding game will be played later today. Stay tuned for updates!

Here are some other details from the match:

  • Shetty and Rankireddy were the first to take a lead in the second game, but Kobayashi and Hoki quickly tied the score at 6-6.
  • The Indian duo then went on a run of five straight points to take a 11-6 lead at the mid-game interval.
  • Kobayashi and Hoki tried to mount a comeback, but Shetty and Rankireddy were too strong in the end, winning the game 21-13.

This is the second time that Shetty and Rankireddy have reached the final of a Super 500 event. They previously reached the final of the Indonesia Masters in 2022, where they lost to Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

If Shetty and Rankireddy win the third and deciding game today, they will become the first Indian men’s doubles pair to win a Super 500 title since Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy won the Singapore Open in 2015.
