Ex-Indian Cricketer Gives Verdict On Fourth Ashes Test: ‘Warner Needs To Step Up’

The fourth Ashes Test is set to begin at Old Trafford in Manchester on Wednesday, and with the series currently tied at 1-1, there is a lot at stake.

One of the key battles in the match will be between Australia opener David Warner and England seamer Stuart Broad. Warner has been dismissed by Broad 17 times in Test cricket, and the English bowler will be looking to make it 18 at Old Trafford.

Former Indian cricketer Ricky Ponting believes that Warner needs to step up in the fourth Test if Australia are to win the series.

“Warner needs to step up,” Ponting said. “He’s been a bit of a passenger in this series so far. He’s been dismissed by Broad three times, and he’s got to find a way to get past him. If he can do that, Australia will be in a good position.”

Ponting also believes that England will be looking to exploit Warner’s weakness against the short ball.

“England will be looking to bowl short at Warner,” Ponting said. “They know that he’s not comfortable against the short ball, and they’ll be looking to exploit that weakness. If they can get him out early, it will put Australia under a lot of pressure.”

The fourth Ashes Test is a crucial match for both teams. Australia need to win in order to retain the Ashes, while England need to win to level the series.
