Sensex Falls 505 Points Today, Nifty Below 19,300

The Sensex fell 505 points today, or 0.77%, to close at 65,280.45. The Nifty fell 165.50 points, or 0.85%, to close at 19,331.80.

The decline in the Sensex and Nifty was led by losses in financial, IT, and energy stocks.

Here are some of the factors that contributed to the decline in the Sensex today:

  • Rising inflation: Inflation in India is at a 8-year high, and this is causing investors to worry about the impact on corporate earnings.
  • Rising interest rates: The Reserve Bank of India is expected to raise interest rates again in the coming months, and this is also weighing on investor sentiment.
  • Weak global cues: Stock markets around the world were down today, as investors worried about the impact of rising inflation and interest rates on global economic growth.

Despite the decline today, the Sensex is still up about 10% year-to-date. However, investors are likely to remain cautious in the near term, as the outlook for the global economy remains uncertain.
