BIMSTEC Ministers Meet in Bangkok to Deepen Forum Agenda

Ministers from the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) met in Bangkok today to discuss ways to deepen the forum’s agenda. The meeting, which is being chaired by Thailand, is the first in-person gathering of BIMSTEC ministers since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The ministers discussed a range of issues, including economic cooperation, trade, connectivity, security, and climate change. They also agreed to work towards the adoption of the BIMSTEC Bangkok Vision 2030, a document that sets out the forum’s goals for the next decade.

The meeting was seen as a positive step towards deepening BIMSTEC cooperation. The ministers’ discussions highlighted the importance of the forum as a regional platform for dialogue and cooperation.
